Professor Cheriton heads the Stanford University Distributed Systems Group.
His interests include distributed systems, high performance networks, operating systems, distributed interactive simulation, and object-oriented design techniques.
In 1995, David Cheriton was a co-founder of Granite Systems, an early developer of Gigabit Ethernet products. Granite was was subsequently acquired by Cisco Systems.
